With the highly anticipated 8th edition of the Pan-African Music Awards (AFRIMA) tagged as the “Teranga Edition” set to take place in Dakar, Senegal on January 12-15, 2023, Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Adour has urged African stars to. Together they amplify the legacy of African music.
The 63-year-old music maestro has been hailing Afrima for hosting the prestigious African Concert in his native Senegal, and ordered his peers in Africa and in the diaspora to come together to celebrate Africa at the 15-000-capacity Dakar Arena, in Dakar, Senegal.
The pinnacle of African music recognition globally, AFRIMA is an annual 4-day festival, broadcast in over 84 countries worldwide, with an even wider reach following its recent partnership with YouTube.
The Senegalese singer and former Minister of Tourism also expressed his delight to see indigenous music like Senegalese Mbalach being highlighted globally on the AFRIMA platform.
“The All Africa Music Awards is the most prestigious gala dedicated to African and diaspora music and artists. The most beautiful aspects of Senegalese and African culture will be in the news for at least four days. So I invite all Singles musicians to come and celebrate African music together.”
Commenting on this, Executive Producer/President of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, said he was happy to see indigenous African music, such as Mbalakh being celebrated globally, adding that it is a step in the right direction towards boosting Africa’s global image and creative economy. .

As the entire world heads towards the 8th edition of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, which will take place from 12th to 15th January 2023, African music fans are encouraged to continue voting massively for the coveted winners, using the voting portal live at www.afrima. org and participate in events on social media platforms (IG / TikTok – @afrima.official; Facebook – Afrimawards; Twitter -afrimaofficial; LinkedIn – AFRIMA). The voting process that determines the AFRIMA winners is audited by the world-renowned auditing firm, Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC).
As announced at the conference, delegates are expected to arrive on January 11, 2020. The AFRIMA Gala is scheduled to begin in full on Thursday January 12, 2023, with the host country tour, school visit and gift giving (as part of AFRIMA’s CSR), as well as a Soiree welcome In the evening, in Dakar.
The 4-day event continues on Friday 13 January 2023, with the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) at the Grand Theatre, in Dakar. On the eve of the awards ceremony, on Saturday January 14, 2023, the events will kick off with key rehearsals, media engagements and a courtesy visit by the President of Senegal.
