Soundcity Radio and Television, the brand behind the prestigious Tingo Mobile-Soundcity Music Awards, has announced the nominees for this year’s edition of the continent-wide pop music show.
The Soundcity MVP Awards, which carried over from the popular Soundcity Video Music Awards (SMVA) in 2016, honors outstanding achievements by African artists in 15 different music categories that include; Best Male MVP, Best Female MVP, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, African Artist of the Year, African DJ of the Year, Best Hip Hop. Also, Non-Music/Special Recognition Awards are on Charity work, sports, community, social development and social entrepreneurshipand contribute to the growth of music.
Following the earlier announcement of the return of the Tingo Mobile-Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, the release of nominees is now paving the way for the voting stage on the way to the event date on February 11 at the Echo Convention Centre, Lagos. According to the CEO of Group8 Ltd and founder of the Awards Festival, Mr. Tajuddeen Adepetu while explaining what motivates the company to keep winning the awards, he said “…in fact, this is the time of the year for those who delve deep into their art to entertain our music-loving continental audience.” to be celebrated.” He added that the organizers will bend over twice to present a breathtaking show that will remain in the minds of the guests and viewers for a long time.
Speaking earlier about the reason for their decision to participate, Dozi Mobusi, Managing Director and Founder of Tingo Mobile, the main sponsor of the event, said “We are honored to be part of the Soundcity MVP Awards and to support the incredible talent in the African music industry. The Tingo Mobile-Soundcity MVP Awards Festival is Africa’s leading pop music awards show that brings together artists across the continent for an incredible night of great performances and recognition. It is scheduled to take place on 11th February at Echo Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is also supported by MunchIT, Desperado, and Chivas Regal
The event will also be broadcast live on the soundcity television network on DSTV and GOTV as well as on terrestrial TV Onto in Lagos.
