Nigerian Afrobeats star has been thrown under the bus after his recent comments about his African American roots.
Nigerian heavyweight singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burn Boy He responded to the criticism he received regarding his recent comment about the origin of black Americans.
The African giant, who recently headlined the halftime show at the NBA All-Star Show in Utah and was announced as the key player for the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul on June 10, 2023, has gotten on the bad side of some African Americans. After his last comment about the importance of leaving the diaspora to return home.
In said interview, Burna Boy was asked why he felt it was important for black Americans to go to Africa, Burna Boy replied that it would help to know their identities properly and know how to function.
The PH-born singer backed up his point with other races such as the Chinese-American race and the Italian-American race, stating that the reason they don’t have some of the problems that the African-American race has in the United States is because they know their origins and what exactly they represent.
The interview that caught the attention of other black Americans among them Tariq Nasheeda social commentator who once confronted Nigerian acts like Ycee on a topic revolving around how African immigration affects black Americans in the US, appeared to offend the racial group when they took to social media to attack Burna Boy.

Taking to his Instagram on Sunday, March 19, 2023, Burna Boy clarified his initial comment, explaining that he wasn’t saying African Americans aren’t American or don’t deserve what they want from America, but was just saying that they did. Africa too, who loves them, and the only way to conquer the world is if black people all over the world unite. Part of the post is as follows:
