Walz, Symi, other celebrities react to the 2023 Lagos gubernatorial election

Nigerian stars, just like the presidential election, have expressed their opinions on the election of the Lagos governor.

Nigerian celebrities like Walz, Addicunl Gold, Semiand a host of others have reactions to the 2023 gubernatorial election in Lagos.

The gubernatorial and House of Representatives elections, which took place on 18 March 2023, after being postponed from 11 March 2023, witnessed an alarming level of violence, voter suppression, disenfranchisement and other irregularities in some states in Nigeria, Lagos being a prime example.

With elections postponed in 10 polling units in Lagos by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to numerous irregularities, celebrities are speaking out regarding the ‘show of shame’ in the mega-city called Lagos.

Artists such as Walz, Simi and others, who reacted to the presidential election in which the Independent National Electoral Commission declared APC’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect, also reacted to the Lagos State gubernatorial election involving the APC. Babajide Sano-Olu (current ruler), LP’s Gbadebo Rhodes Favourand PDP Abdulaziz Olajid Adiran Ghandour.

Walz, who took to Twitter on election day, condemned voter persecution and violence, as well as the activities of the electoral body, the Independent Electoral Commission. He wrote in a series of tweets:

The biggest show of disgrace. The biggest joke of the political process.

On the basis of what logic do you conclude that it is okay to use force to get people to “vote” you? All the supporters and enablers of this despicable one are even more despicable. You know better, but you are evil at heart!

Simi, a singer-songwriter, took to the Bird app to express how tired she was of the electoral process. I wrote:
