Superstar Davido has revealed the reason for his decision to donate another 237 million naira to charity in 2023.
Multi-award winning singer and performer David Adeleke OON, better known as Davido, revealed that he donated 237 million Naira to the less privileged in Nigeria in 2023. The singer made the announcement on his social media platform today Thursday 20th July 2023, in a post on his Twitter platform where he revealed that the reason for this donation that happened years ago on his birthday was to need people’s support as he needed support a few years ago. on him.
His latest announcement was met with fan excitement as was his social media post is reading, “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. So thankful that through your generosity I’ve been able to do so. We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago on my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we’re changing lives. That’s what I mean when I say we rise up by lifting others up. God bless you all!”.
The gesture started in 2021 when he asked his friends to show their support for him on his birthday by sending them one million naira each. His friends obliged, and the singer revealed that the sum he eventually got was 200 million, an amount he added 50 million naira to the amount before donating to charity.
On February 22, 2022, the singer released the full list of over 200 orphanages in Nigeria across all 36 states that have received the donation.
